The final images are a collaboration of a number photographs and prints over-layed on each other. I produced a few collographs which were then printed and used in the three images.

FISHER HOUSE 1:50

Fisher House 1:50

 

The Fisher house is rather different in style from my previous models that were explored. I decide to represent the fisher house in a more literal manner, opposing my more conceptual style. The Fisher house was a challenge to model. I struggled to work to such detail.

Attempt 1 - Hessian bag and Box board site, balsa wood fisher house and wire trees. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 The model was an experiment that wasn't as successful as i hoped. The thickness of the contours didn't correlate to the material thickness, which meant the model height was incorrect and the hessian when cut become rather tackie. In terms of aesthetics, i felt the colour palette and textural quality of the choose materials was rather poetic and translated some of the tangible qualities of the fisher house.

 

Final Site model - Wood base (made from scrap floor boards glued together), Copper wire mesh to represent the site contours and trees, Balsa wood fisher house, melted candle wax for water.

BARCELONA PAVILION 1:200 MODEL

The Barcelona Pavilion was to be model at 1:200. Balsa wood was to be used to construct the model. Various thicknesses of Balsa wood was chosen as to correlate to the alternate wall thickness of the Pavilion.

Frosted plastic was used to model the water. To give the water a textured effect, I sanded the plastic.

Week 5/6 - Model it

Model It

During class model making was explored using a variety of material including balsa wood and box board, as well as found materials. Models were made according to excise in question, including spontaneous sketch models and concept models. Below are example of my experiments. I felt most comfortable in using my chosen found materials, which were copper wire mesh and bark. The colour palette in this instance was rather cohesive, that suited the abstract nature of the concept model.
